Staying busy, regimented, and focused

I live my best life by enjoying the moment and staying grounded in the present. Living my best life means living according to what makes me as an individual happy. I live my best life here at TC3 by taking advantage of the support and confidence that my sports teams give me. I am on the soccer team this fall and I am also playing on the basketball team this winter, and these teams have opened so many doors to so many opportunities to meet great people and connect with my teammates. On top of that, TC3 has given me the options to stay busy, regimented, and focused when I’m not studying or in class. I want to take what TC3 is giving me and use it to continue playing basketball at a higher level. I see myself in the future continuing to enjoy each moment – especially with my friends and family.

Figuring out what makes me fulfilled!

At the end of the day, doing what makes you happy is how you live your best life. TC3 has helped me start to figure out what it is that makes me not just happy, but feel fulfilled. It has helped me to focus on finding a little more about myself each day and showing me the importance of being an active participant in my life. When I leave TC3, I’m going to use that to go after my dreams.

Professor Keith Millman, New Media

We talk a lot about preparing students for the jobs of today, but what about tomorrow? This #MajorMonday we bring you the to answer that question: New Media. Led by professor Keith Millman, New Media is a program that lies squarely at the intersection of art and technology. From the augmentations of virtual reality, to the applications of 3D printing, this is the major of innovators and problem solvers. Designed for transfer and geared toward careers in illustration, animation, web, video game, and graphic design, its true possibilities lie in the far flung career fields of the future.

Offering Any Support I Can for Students

My name is Tracey Brunner. I am a Program Coordinator in the Office of Diversity Education and Support Services (ODESS). I think that one of the best things that Tompkins Cortland does is support and care about students. I know this personally. I had some health problems in High School and missed a lot of school. I received no support of any kind from my teachers or guidance counselor. I was left to figure things out on my own. When I got to Tompkins Cortland I had several faculty and staff members reach out and support me. They believed in me and gave me the encouragement and support I needed to believe in myself. Years later I became a staff member at Tompkins Cortland and have been able to do the same thing for students. I offer my support in any way they need it, my door is always open. Some students need help academically or socially and some just need to know there is someone there that is always willing to listen. Many of our students have never had the encouragement and belief in them that they could attain their goals. You would think that there is no better feeling than to see those students walk across the stage and receive their hard earned diplomas but when they reach out months or even years later to thank you for your support or even share their dream of working at TC3 or in higher education, to help student themselves, you know you have the best job in the world.

A place that is more mature and understanding

I feel that living your best life could mean that you have grown enough as a person that you can live your life without having to worry about things out of your control. TC3 has helped me life in a few ways, but the one that I first appreciated when I got here was that I was away from the drama I was used to and in a place that was more mature and understanding. TC3 has also helped me live my best life by helping me work toward an Associate’s degree. After leaving TC3 I see myself taking the skills and knowledge I gained and using it to get a competitive job that will support not just me, but my loved once too.
